Sarah Hurst M.S., CCC-SLP
Speech Language Pathologist & Owner
Background
Sarah studied Communication Disorders at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She obtained a B.S. with minors in Psychology and Education, and gained experience in the field as a special education teaching assistant for several years at both the middle and elementary school levels before working as a speech-language pathology assistant.
She went on to obtain her M.S. in Communication Disorders from Emerson College. Clinical experience consists of work in both the public school system and pediatric private practice settings. Sarah has worked with the pediatric population since 2015. Her experience encompasses a variety of clinical areas and diagnoses including expressive and receptive language skills, phonological and articulation skills, fluency, social communication, play skills, echolalia and gestalts, and phonological awareness skills.
Sarah believes that her clients learn and develop new skills grounded in a strengths-based approach encompassing a neurodiversity-affirming lens. Her practice stresses the importance of using both play-based and child-led approaches to enhance communication and promote language development. Development of self-awareness and self-confidence through autonomy and positive connections is fundamental to her practice as well.
